Halloween Dracula Denture Cookies!

Halloween is just around the corner so it’s the perfect time to share a spooky cookie recipe! These Dracula Dentures ๐Ÿง›โ€โ™‚๏ธ are easy and great fun to make with kids; plus adults can also enjoy them with a lovely cup of coffee too!

Ingredients
For the cookies
150g softened butter
80g granulated sugar
80g light brown Muscavado sugar
2tsp vanilla extract
1 egg
225g plain flour
1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
Pinch of salt
Packet of chocolate chips

For the teeth filling
100g softened butter
200g icing sugar
Splash of milk
Red food gel (optional)
Medium white Marshmallows
White mini marshmallows
Giant white chocolate buttons

Method

Start by heating the oven to 190/170 fan/gas mark 5, then line 3 baking trays with greaseproof paper.

Put the butter and both sugars into a bowl and using an electric whisk, cream together until the ingredients turn to a smooth, fluffy mixture.

At this point, beat in the egg and the vanilla extract.

Sift in the flour, bicarb and salt and mix with a wooden spoon. Once combined, add in your chocolate chips and mix them through evenly. Leave the mixture to chill in the fridge for at least 20 minutes.

When ready, using a tablespoon/ice cream scoop as your guide, scoop out the cookie dough and roll the mixture into separate balls. Place each ball onto the tray, leaving plenty of space between each so ideally no more than 5 cookies per tray. You should have enough dough to make 12-15 cookies.

Depending on the size of your oven, you may have to cook the cookies in batches. Place the tray/s in the middle of the oven and cook for 10-12 minutes, until they are brown and crispy on the edges. Leave to cool for a couple of minutes on the tray before moving to a cooling rack.

Whilst the cookies are cooling, mix together the butter and icing sugar for the filling. If it looks a bit stiff, you can add in a splash of milk to loosen up. Once soft and fluffy, add in a few drops of food colouring if using, until you get a nice bright red butter cream.

Assembling Your Cookies
Once you’ve baked all of the cookies and they’ve cooled down, you can begin the fun part! Take a cookie and cut it in half. Spread each half with butter cream. Along the straight edge of one half of the cookie, stick the mini marshmallows in a row so they resemble teeth.

Next, cut a giant chocolate button in half. Be careful when you’re doing this not to fracture the button into different pieces. The best way to do this, is to roll the knife edge gently from one side of the button to the other, rather than applying pressure directly down the middle.

Take each half of the button, and with the straight edge facing downwards, stick them onto the butter cream between the outside marshmallows and adjacent one to create your fangs. Put a medium marshmallow behind the ‘row of teeth’ and stick the other half of the cookie on the top to complete your Dracula dentures! Repeat this process with the remaining cookies! If you want to make them even more blood-thirsty, add a squirt of raspberry sauce to the marshmallows before adding the top half of the cookie.
