For the most intrepid adventurers looking for a challenge.
Starting from our e-bike hire shop in Penzance, travel west along the promenade where you can take in the stunning views of Mount’s Bay and St. Michael’s Mount as you cruise, before arriving at the fishing village of Newlyn. Although you won’t have been cycling for long, you might want to stop here for a short while and watch the fishing boats bob in and out of the harbour, or treat yourself to a famous Jelbert’s ice cream (owned by the family of Olympic gold medallist Helen Glover).
When you’re ready to move on, jump back in the saddle and cycle towards your next stop of world-renowned Mousehole—the tiny fishing village famous for its story, The Mousehole Cat, and it’s vibrant Christmas lights. There’s a small incline here shortly after push off, but let your Super73 e-bike do the heavy lifting. It’s then a flat amble all the way along to Mousehole, with views of the sea to your left. Here you’ll discover character around every corner, with quaint little shops, cute cafes, pubs, delicious delis, and of course, the picturesque harbour. It’s worth stopping here for some photo opportunities, and maybe a quick refuel as the next stage of your route is more taxing.
As you leave Mousehole, you’ll head towards the little valley of Lamorna (an inspiration to many artists) and perhaps enjoy a cold refreshment in The Wink when you get there, which you’ll be glad of as this leg of the journey requires more effort due to its inclines. While your Super73 supports you, it’s not a motorised bike, so you still need to put in some effort on the hills.
Next, you’ll be heading cross-country to St Buryan, famous as a location in the Dustin Hoffman film Straw Dogs. From here, if your legs are up to it, take a detour down to the stunning Sennen Cove (**steep hill alert**).
Onwards from here, you’ll head along the coast to Land’s End where you can stop to refuel with some local food from takeaways and restaurants, before heading back to the RideOn Penzance base.
